What to do and see in Corralejo
Corralejo is a small town on the northeast coast of Fuerteventura, an old fishing village that still retains its charm. Although it is best known for the Natural Park of the Dunes or the nearby islet of Lobos, this town has many attractions that are worth discovering.
The main avenue leading into the village, known as Avenida de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, is lined with shops, restaurants and terraces (a very animated area day and night), as the shops keep open until ten o’clock.
A visit to its historic centre is also a must, with its network of narrow streets, full of white buildings with the typical porticos in a deep blue colour. It is a good place to enjoy a fantastic gastronomic.
Not only visiting the natural park, you can also take a ferry from the port to the island of Lobos, a small islet worthy of a postcard, or spend a fun day at the Acua Water Park, with its endless slides, pools and great fun. A great plan for a couple!
Corralejo Dunes Natural Park
Without a doubt the Natural Park Dunas de Corralejo is one of the main attractions of the town, wild species in danger of extinction, its famous dunes such as the Moro and the volcano known as the Red Mountain.
The dunes, which run for eight kilometres parallel to the coast, form an impressive desert landscape in contrast to the spectacular views of the sea.
The beaches of the Parque Natural Dunas de Corralejo, known as Grandes Playas, are considered by many to be the most beautiful in Fuerteventura. They are endless beaches, with golden sands and turquoise waters that will make you know you are in a real paradise.
